How this site makes money, said plainly, because you should be able to tell.

Amazon affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate, Digital Alphabet Books earns from qualifying purchases.

That sentence is the disclosure Amazon requires, and it appears in the footer of every page on this site. Here is what it actually means.

Every “Buy on Amazon” button here is an affiliate link. If you follow one and buy the book, Amazon pays this imprint a small commission on the sale. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same as it would be if you had searched for the book yourself, and the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin rather than being added to your bill.

There are only ten books it could ever point you at, and they are all Brian’s. Nothing here recommends a product because it pays better; the links exist because the books exist.

Retailer links change

Amazon listings move, go temporarily out of stock, or change edition without warning, and other retailers come and go. Links are checked when they are added and re-checked before release, but if one takes you somewhere unexpected, say so and it will be fixed quickly. A link pointing at the wrong book is the worst kind of error this site can make.

Prices and availability

Prices are set by Amazon, not here, and this site does not display them for that reason — whatever Amazon shows you at the moment you look is the real price. Every volume is printed on demand, so “in stock” is the normal state, but delivery estimates are Amazon’s to make.

The writing itself

Brian’s poems draw on contemplative practice, men’s work, grief, midlife and recovery. They are poems, offered as poems. Nothing on this site is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and nothing here is a substitute for talking to someone qualified.

If a poem finds you at a hard moment and you need more than a poem, please reach out to someone who can help.
